Provides immigration relief options to victims of crime under three federal laws: the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), and Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act (VTVPA). These federal rulings enable ICWC to provide the following direct legal services: non-immigrant status (U-Visas) for victims of violent crimes, such as sexual assault and domestic violence, VAWA self-petitions for battered women and children victims of domestic violence who are married to, or recently divorced from U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents, and SIJS petitions on behalf of minors who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected and who are under the jurisdiction of a state juvenile court.
