The Systems of Care - Mission

Mission

The Systems of Care supports the Health and Human Services Agency's mission to assure healthy communities by providing an array of state-of-the-art mental health services to children, their families and adults based on the following principles:

Principles

Participants in mental health services and their families are valued members of our community. Culturally competent services are planned and delivered with the participation of clients, caregivers and other partners, in a manner that is:

  • Welcoming - there is "No Wrong Door" for people to access needed services.
  • Client-centered - in the case of children, family-centered and child-focused.
  • Collaborative, involving families, public agencies, and private organizations.
  • Individualized and strength-based, with an emphasis on a wraparound or biopsychosocial rehabilitation approach.
  • Integrated with related services to address coexisting life problems.
  • Comprehensive and responsive to the evolving needs of participants.
  • Coordinated and community-based.
  • Culturally, linguistically and developmentally appropriate.
  • Empathetic, hopeful and wellness-oriented.
  • Respectful of clients' rights and responsibilities.
  • Responsive to new initiatives and clinical practices.
  • Timely, cost-effective and outcome-driven.

Goals

Services are designed to enable clients to achieve positive outcomes, including:

    Children and Youth:

    • Live at home or in home-like settings.
    • Stay out of trouble.
    • Are successful in school.
    • Are safe.

    Adults:

    • Learn to manage the symptoms of their disorder.
    • Acquire and maintain the skills and resources needed to live successfully in the community.
    • Pursue their own personal goals and recognize and celebrate their individual strengths.
