Orlando baseball, 2020 census, ‘Lie of the Year’: This weekend

Baseball, the 2020 census and 2019’s top stories will be topics on Orlando TV’s public-affairs programs this weekend. The lineup:

Orlando Magic co-founder Pat Williams will be Greg Warmoth’s guest on “Central Florida Spotlight” at 12:30 p.m. Sunday on WFTV-Channel 9. Williams talks about trying to bring Major League Baseball to Orlando.

Greg Engle of the U.S. Census Bureau will be Justin Warmoth’s guest on “The Weekly on ClickOrlando.com” at 8 a.m. Sunday on WKMG-Channel 6. Engle discusses the importance of the 2020 census, the need for paid local census takers and the debut of digital initiatives.

Orlando District 6 Commissioner-elect Bakari Burns will be the guest on “Political Connections” at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday on Spectrum News 13. Burns will discuss his proposed initiatives as well as transportation and housing issues throughout his district. PolitiFact examines 2019’s Lie of the Year as well as readers’ choice for lie of the year. PolitiFact has said the lie is President Donald Trump’s claim that the whistleblower got the Ukraine call “almost completely wrong.”

“In Focus with Allison Walker-Torres” explores depression and mental health among today’s teens at 11:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Sunday on Spectrum News 13. The guests are state Reps. Susan Valdes and Randy Fine.

“NewsNight” looks back at the biggest stories that the program covered this year at 8:30 p.m. Friday on WUCF TV. Host Nancy Alvarez of WFTV welcomes Beth Kassab of the Orlando Sentinel, Matthew Peddie of 90.7 WMFE and independent journalist Renata Sago. The panel discusses the plans unveiled for the Pulse memorial and museum; growth, affordable housing and low wages; the resignation of Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rossell\u00f3; and a raft of new legislation in Florida. The program repeats at 9:30 a.m. Sunday on Orlando’s PBS station.
