Provides time-limited cash aid for the care of children and families when one or more of the parents is absent, disabled, unemployed, or deceased. Minors who are parents are directed to the CalLearn program. CalWORKs applications should be processed within 45 days. Income guidelines and property limits apply. Also accepts TANF Appeals/Complaints and issues CalWORKs payments through an EBT card or direct deposit.

  • Eligibility Requirements:Must meet the following guidelines: 1. Be a U.S. Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident or other specific non-citizen and live in San Diego County 2. Have age qualified dependent children (up to 18 years of age) 3. Have dependent children who lack the parental support and care as a result of one or both parents being absent, deceased, incapacitated or unemployed 4. Have school age children enrolled and attending school 5. Have current immunization records for children below the age of 6 9. Personal property cannot exceed $2,250 (or $3,250 for families who have a member age 60 or older, or disabled) 10.
